ONYX TRIBAL - tribal fusion bellydance

ONYX Tribal offers tuition and performance opportunities in the beautiful fusion of tribal bellydance in Castle Hill, NSW, under the creative director, Margot Walker.

Tribal fusion bellydance is generally performed in a small group of dancers, and combines elements of middle eastern, flamenco, Indian and other folk dances into a carefully choreographed routine.

American Tribal Style (ATS) bellydance is a dynamic dance style which uses pre-practiced cues given by the lead dancer, to enable the dancers to perform purely improvised routines as a group.

I performed with Onyx Tribal between 2010-2020, at a wide variety of bellydance and cultural festivals including:

  • Sydney Middle Eastern Dance Festival
  • Newcastle Bellydance Festival
  • Ironfest
  • Parramasala
  • Gymea Bellydance Festival
  • Onyx Tribal Hafla
  • Winter Magic Festival

The best parts of tribal bellydance include wearing kilograms of gorgeous jewellery, voluminous 30 metre silk skirts and pantaloons, incredible music from around the around, and of course, connecting with the other members of my tribe, who are like sisters to me 🖤
