Hand-Embroidered Grey Herringbone Wool Linen and Rabbit Fur Viking Hat

This beautiful hand-stitched hat is inspired by the Birka Cap, an archaeological find from Birka, Sweden, dating to the 7th–8th century AD.

Every hat is made in my studio. First, the inner seams are machine-sewn for strength, then all visible outer seams are finished and embroidered by hand. Fur is added for extra warmth and a beautifully tactile finish.

A note on fur: I only use reclaimed fur from vintage garments, or fur sourced as a by-product of feral animal control to protect native Australian wildlife.

+ Wear as an everyday winter hat for a historical flourish

+ Wear as part of formal attire for Celtic, Medieval, Viking, Pagan weddings and handfasting ceremonies
